Classes and Workshops
The Haunted Antique Shop is more than just a store. It’s also an event center, where we are pleased to offer a range of classes and workshops.
Tarot for Beginners
Learn the meanings of all 78 cards in a tarot deck, without hours of study or rote memorization. We’ll cover the basics―why tarot works, its colorful history, spreads, ethics, giving readings―along with practical techniques for enhancing your psychic skills. Along the way we’ll get a taste of the myths and legends associated with the tarot, as well as numerical and astrological symbolism.
There’s more to you than just your sun sign. Somewhere in your birth chart, you’ll find all the planets, circling the Sun, situated in signs and houses. While it might sound confusing, we’ll take it slow, with stories and symbolism that make perfect sense. Before long, you’ll master the basics principles of astrology―and you’ll be able to read the stars with style.
Tarot and Astrology
For centuries, the art of tarot and the science of astrology have been closely linked. Now you can master the connections between them—not as two separate fields of study, but as a seamless, integrated whole. We’ll explore all the cards in the deck, starting with basic meanings and gleaning additional information from astrology, mythology, and history. (Intermediate/Advanced)
Psychometry for Beginners
When you pick up an appealing item in the Haunted Antique Shop, you can also pick up on images, thoughts, and emotions from other times and other places. We can help you understand the process, and show you how to develop your psychometric gifts to their fullest.
Tarot for Writers
Most people think of tarot cards as a fortune-telling device, but they’re also a great tool for writing and creative thinking. Writers from John Steinbeck to Stephen King have used tarot cards for inspiration, and Italian novelist Italo Calvino went so far as to call the tarot “a machine for writing stories.” Corrine Kenner, the owner of the Haunted Antique Shop, wrote a best-selling guide to Tarot for Writers, and we’ll use it as our textbook.
Astrology for Writers
The nighttime sky has inspired writers and astrologers alike to spin stories on the strands of starlight. Now you can unleash your creativity by adding astrology to your writing practice. Learn how to use the planets for characters, the signs of the zodiac for plot and themes, and the houses of the horoscope for settings. Develop unique characters based on mythic archetypes, use astrological imagery and symbolism for your descriptions and dialogue, and put theory into practice with writing prompts and examples. Invite the gods and goddesses of astrology to enter your writing and share their stories through you.
Create a gemstone necklace that looks like your birth chart! Beadstrology is a creative way to combine the art of astrology with the craft of beading. Your finished pieces will look like a map of the heavens at the moment of your birth. The process is simple, and the results are sophisticated.
Tea Leaf Reading
Experience the ancient art of tea-leaf reading, just like grandma did. Have a seat at the antique table in our front parlor. Sip hot tea from a vintage teacup, and see your future take shape.
Pendulums are a quick, convenient way to access your intuition — especially when you’re at a turning point, or you simply want a cosmic confirmation to help you make decisions. They’re also an amazing tool to incorporate in other types of psychic readings. We’ll show you how to make and use a pendulum of your very own.
