All Bottled Up

By Corrine Kenner at the Haunted Antique Shop.

DeLand has some sort of festival or event every single weekend. Today my neighbor Sheila and I strolled around the DeLand Outdoor Art Festival in Earl Brown Park. I found a polka-dot scarf for my dog Dot, and this sweet little beaded bottle that I plan to hang in the window over my kitchen sink.

Nancy from Black Fire Design is the artist behind the bottle — in the photo and in real life. When I told her that I own the Haunted Antique Shop, she asked if we have any antique bottles for sale. She said she likes to use vintage bottles for her creations, but they’re not always easy to come by.

Well, we do have a few, but most of them are spooky old poison-type bottles, in keeping with our “haunted” theme. But guess what? I got some of those bottles from an old guy who’s been collecting them his whole life, and now he’s trying to liquidate most of his collection. As luck would have it, I even had his name and number in my phone, filed under “bottle guy.” (My filing system is clever that way, because I know how my brain works.)
